Discussions about Twitter have become so overwhelming. Much has been said. Much promotions and criticisms (well, there will always be two sides in a coin). I understand that Twitter has managed to occupy a huge space of the majority. Almost everybody is inclined to the application of Twitter. Some tweets. Some keeps the protocol for gaining followers. Others have been elaborating their experiences and talks about Twitter. These are the common scenarios found in Twitter, and so it is fair to say that Twitter has turned to be the specialty of the web – anyone wants to explore and experience.
However, none is consistently bad or consistently good. In some ways, Twitter is not required for a particular application. Even though Twitter is innovative and updated, it doesn’t mean it will fit us. Small businesses, in particular, do not require Twitter to actualize their objective. Why? This article will tackle the various reasons for this claim.
Twitter is not advisable for small businesses because firstly, it is a business. You are not hosting a party or sorority. Small business as it may seem but don’t treat it as if you are managing a club or a small group. Small businesses have the most fitting approach for boosting sales. Truth remains that you are running a business. Apparently, you are managing a business that either offers services or sell products. And with this, you must understand that people are more likely to patronize offers and selling if price is reasonable and if happened to expensive, still they are agreeable to shell out. The key to success on small businesses is not in Twitter. Your clients are the means of your survival. Gain and keep them. In doing so, you must astound them. Since marketing is a competition, it also helps if you offer your clients the best value not prejudicing your sales. Comply on your pledges. It helps a lot that you gain the trust and confidence of your client.
Some wrong perception about running a business is the need to befriend with clients. Although friendship can build up your relationship with customers, it doesn’t mean that you cannot succeed without having to befriend with your clients. There will always be a customer-business owner relationship. The reason of your business is not to establish friends, it will be nice if you find one throughout your venture, but still the reason for your business is to generate sales.
Well, I don’t really suggest that Twitter shouldn’t be used by any business. Twitter can be fitting to some kind of businesses, however small businesses shouldn’t play along with them. Twitter is small businesses can be slightly too much.
Secondly, Twitter provides excessive information. Do you really think people would be interested to know your per minute activities? Well, not for a small business.
Twitter eats much time. Twitter shouldn’t work for a business because the time consumed for tweeting and for following someone else’s tweet will exclude other activities. Thus, your option to utilize your time is limited. It is certainly great if you are only tweeting for fun, but not for a business.
Fourthly, Twitter limits a message to 140 characters.
